Silicon Valley Meets DC – Website Development, Video Production, and More – Destination Innovation 2015

Washington, DC, April 29, 2015 – TriVision was a proud sponsor at Northern Virginia Technology Council’s fourth annual Destination Innovation, DC’s premier event which highlights the vibrant and rapidly growing technology community in the region.

Held at The Washington Post building, Destination Innovation 2015 featured an exhibition of DC area’s growing technology firms, an “innovation competition”, networking and industry speakers. Tony Moraco, Chief Executive Officer of defense contractor SAIC and Paul Singh, Managing Director of start-up incubator 1776, were the keynote speakers who spoke of the many challenges of innovation.

A key highlight of the event was the “Innovation Competition” where 32 start-up technology companies competed to gain seed funding in order to grow and expand their business. Kajeet took the top spot after making it through online voting, a two minute pitch for audience votes, and a head-to-head “Shark Tank” style round.

As a sponsor, TriVision provided the video production services for the event, capturing the exhibition and demonstrations of new products – which included everything from wearable robotics, to 3D printing, to cybersecurity software. A phrase often overheard at the exhibition was, “not everything happens in Silicon Valley,” and after seeing all these new ideas, we have to agree!

DC Website Development – “Your Website SUCKS” Campaign

TriVision launched its “Your Website SUCKS!” campaign, reaching out to small businesses who need a website revamp, in particular a responsive website and online video. Part of our pitch was to educate people about the benefits of having a responsive website and the 20-30% web traffic they are potentially losing.  For example, Google’s recent update rewards mobile-friendly websites by ranking them higher on their results pages. You’d be surprised how many people didn’t know this and told us, “You know, you’re right! Our website does suck!”

We’re looking forward to attending more events with the NVTC and letting more companies know that their websites “suck.” As the Washington tech community continues to grow, TriVision plans to be there to help young businesses get ahead of the game, and bring home the bacon!
