Using Strategic Communications to Promote Market Transparency

CHALLENGE.

Established in 1975 by the United States Congress, Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) had difficulty effectively communicating their key points. Through outreach, education and awareness, they hoped to achieve their mission of protecting investors, municipal entities and the public interest by promoting a fair and efficient municipal market, more market transparency, and more. Due to the complex nature of the subject matter, they needed a strategic communications strategy using video, web, and digital media.

SOLUTION.

TriVision has been working with MSRB since 2012, producing and creating video and web products to help educate the public, investors and financial advisors on what is a rather complex service area. By creating a series of videos using motion graphics and 3D animation, we explained in layman’s terms what the MSRB is, what municipal securities are, and how to access transparency tools such as EMMA from their website. In addition to these videos, TriVision has created a wide variety of video content that has been used to educate financial professionals regarding complex rule changes to internal videos for their careers page.

On the web development and branding services front, TriVision refreshed and rebranded the Education Center web portal, as well as the Career Section of their msrb.org website. This process entailed a detailed project plan, a visual presentation of site layout, development of optional site designs plus multiple revisions with client.

In addition, TriVision provided branding, web development, content creation, messaging and graphic design services for MSRB’s MuniEdPro℠, a suite of high-quality e-learning courses designed specifically for municipal finance professionals.
